Hello, my name is Douglas Walker. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at how to use some of our beginning VoiceOver gestures, and these are our one-finger gestures.
Now, if you're not yet familiar with VoiceOver, well, VoiceOver's Apple's screen-reading software, and a screen reader gives a person with a visual impairment the ability to totally use their device. And it does this by speaking the items or information that's on our screen, and that is pretty fantastic. So let's jump right in and check out all of our one-finger gestures.
Now, we're using our iPhone in today's workshop, but no worries because all of this work pretty much the same whether we're using our iPhone or our iPad. Okay, let's begin by first talking about the orientation of our screen. Now, our screen, of course, is a piece of glass, and the items on our home screen here are laid out in a series of rows and columns.
Ed: Now that you've had a chance to learn a bit with us, we'd like to learn more about you: your name, email address, how you heard about Hadley, and your relationship to vision loss. Learning more will give us a better understanding of how to personalize Hadley just for you. And don't worry: everything you share with us online will be kept safe and secure. Of course, if you'd prefer to talk through these questions, we're just a phone call away at 800-323-4238.
Taking these few steps saves your preferences so you can continue right where you left off and track your progress every time you log on, plus it connects you to the Hadley community and helps sustain our funding to keep Hadley free of charge. And last but not least, it gives you direct access to experts like me. Now, where were we?
