Seminars@Hadley are the best! The technology seminars are especially relevant; the information I acquired helped me learn about my iPhone.

Independent Living: Cooking

This course is for professionals who work with students who are visually impaired. Accomplished cooks who are visually impaired use their nonvisual senses and adaptive techniques for kitchen success. Often, using nonvisual information effectively, staying organized, and paying close attention to safety issues, as well as considering some adaptive devices, are all that is needed. This course presents safety guidelines, strategies for preparing cold foods, and techniques for stove and microwave cooking. Becoming familiar with adaptive techniques for preparing meals safely will enable students to help clients live more independently.
Note: this course does NOT replace training from a rehabilitation professional.
