2019 Braille Holiday Card

Braille Holiday Cards

Since the late 1950s, the Woman's Board of Hadley has been offering a braille holiday card, making this sale one of the longest running fundraisers of its kind. Braille holiday cards make unique gifts and support Hadley's mission to create personalized learning opportunities that empower people to thrive at home, at work and in their communities.

In the Hadley tradition, the 2019 Braille Holiday Card carries the interior greeting “Wishing you peace, happiness and the spirit of the season” in both print and braille. An original painting in hues of white, periwinkle and blue, this quiet winter scene features a curious fawn approaching a snowman in a moonlit clearing. In the distance, two cottages are nestled near a forest of pines as snowflakes fall quietly from the sky. For a tactile effect, the snowman has been embossed.

This year’s artwork was created by Hadley learner and professional artist Terri B. Webb, who began to gradually lose her sight in 2004. Today, she continues to paint using her residual sight, and has developed assistive techniques to guide her through her artistic process. See more of her work at terribwebb.com.

Online sale begins September 9.
