Probably like most small businesses, my family (my husband and myself) needed additional income. A business at home made so much sense as we don't drive and I have other mobility issues. And of course, I enjoy creating and having something to do!
Being a baby boomer, sadly I had many - some even in the blindness field - who told me what I never could do as opposed to helping me envision the future using the skills and talent God graced me with. That said, I am proud to be able to use said skills and talents and just maybe I will inspire other blind men and women to embrace their own skill sets.
First, shadow other people doing the work you want to do. Study how they treat their customers or clients. Make sure you can comfortably work with equipment, tax codes, laws surrounding your business, including licenses.
