  2. Identify the characteristics, purposes and formats of self-help groups
  3. Discuss the benefits of the self-help process

After completing Lesson 2, you will be able to:

  1. Analyze the dynamics of self-help groups
  2. List some factors affecting group membership

After completing Lesson 3, you will be able to:

  1. Describe a typical self-help group meeting
  2. Discuss the importance of trust and confidentiality in a self-help group
  3. Describe communication techniques that may enhance participation in a self-help group

After completing Lesson 4, you will be able to:

  1. Describe how a self-help group can help you cope with life’s demands with vision loss or blindness
  2. Discuss how participation in a self-help group can help you transcend common attitudes about vision loss
