Hadley Graduate Megan Tate Recognized by DETC as a 2010 Outstanding Graduate

Megan Tate at Hadley 2009 Graudation Ceremony

Megan Tate is almost completely blind due to retrolental fibroplasia of prematurity, a disease of the eye caused by disorganized growth of retinal blood vessels leading to retinal scarring and detachment. Tate previously had difficulty in other educational environments. Her grandmother found The Hadley School for the Blind on a homeschooling mailing list when her family decided to search for other options. Megan enrolled at Hadley in 2003 at the age of 14.

Hadley’s courses allowed Megan to study at her own pace and work one-on-one with her instructors. "Hadley has taught me skills I can use in my daily life," Megan says. "The courses fueled a new love for learning that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I am the first person in my immediate family to graduate from high school and my diploma means the world to me."
